Watson Hangar
Hanger #3 of the Museum's "Chain of Hangars" belongs to Dave Watson and has a decidedly British flavor. Dave's collection includes a 1944 de Havilland Tiger Moth in Brooklands Flying Club livery, beautifully restored by Dave about 12 years ago. There is a de Havilland Gipsy Moth built in 1930 and beautifully restored in England before being bought by Dave and brought to the USA. There is also a Gipsy Moth restoration project well under way. This aircraft was originally built in 1927, served in Canada for several decades before coming to the USA where it has had a storied life in the motion picture industry and here at Santa Paula Airport. The aircraft's previous owner was Bud Gurney and was once flown by his friend, Charles Lindbergh. The aircraft is being restored to flying condition. |

In addition to the airplanes, there is a restored 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 in British Racing Green. Decorating the walls are many photos, paintings and other memorabilia covering early and mid 1900's aviation, mostly of Britain and the Continent. There are display cases of airplane models, old aircraft instruments, items such as flying goggles, and early flight manuals and books. Several large models hang from the rafters, some of which are flying models. |

| And if all this were not enough, a modern aircraft construction project as crept into the hanger in the form of a Van's Aircraft RV-12. This is an E-LSA (experimental light sport aircraft) kit. The airplane is being built by Don Kennedy, a member of the Aviation Museum here at Santa Paula. The progress being made on the restoration and construction projects is a continuing source of interest for visitors. | ||
